Definitions
“Participant(s)”
Any person taking part in an event, including any attendees who purchased their ticket or claimed a free ticket, volunteers, organizers, and sponsor;
guests present at the event, whether invited by a participant,
anyone else present at the venue of the event during the event, or at the venues of any related events.
“Online platform(s)”
The Nordic Game Jam Discord server,
The Nordic Game Jam Facebook page and any associated Facebook events,
The Nordic Game Jam LinkedIn page and any associated LinkedIn events,
Replies to Tweets posted by the Nordic Game Jam Twitter account, or tweets related to Nordic Game Jam,
Surveys posted by Nordic Game Jam, including any responses to anonymous surveys,
Itch.io Nordic Game Jam pages and itch.io pages of submitted games.
“Online community member”
Any person who joins or participates in conversation within the Nordic Game Jam–related online platforms.
Appropriate Behavior
Participants and Online community members must:
Show consideration and respect in their speech and actions towards other Participants or Online community members,
Work together to resolve potential conflicts,
Not exhibit any demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech, as described in the “Unacceptable Behavior” section below.
Any games made during the Nordic Game Jam must comply with this Code of Conduct.
Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow members. Alert organizers immediately if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they seem inconsequential.
Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behaviors include intimidating, harassing, abusive, violent, discriminatory, derogatory, demeaning or bullying speech or actions, as well as unwanted sexual attention.
Discriminatory speech includes: harmful or prejudicial verbal or written comments related to gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, appearance, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, socioeconomic status, political affiliation, or religion.
Harassment includes deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact.
“Free speech” is never a valid defense for any of these types of speech or behavior.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
The Nordic Game Jam organizers are the final arbiters on whether any speech or action runs afoul of this Code of Conduct, and will decide on the appropriate course of action on a case-by-case basis.
Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior by the organizers must comply immediately.
If a Participant or Online community member engages in unacceptable behavior, organizers may take action, up to and including a temporary ban or permanent expulsion from the event or Online platform without warning and without refund in the case of a paid event.
Participants must comply with the decisions that the organizer team takes.
Games that violate this Code of Conduct may be removed from the submissions page and be disqualified from any competitions, awards, gifts, or official recognition in any form, and their developers may be subject to any other consequences the organizers deem appropriate.
If You Witness or are Subject to Unacceptable Behavior
If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, feel unsafe, or have any other concerns, remove yourself from the situation if possible and reach out to a volunteer or organizer (it’s okay to be anonymous).
If the person carrying out the unacceptable behaviour is a volunteer or an organizer, please report the incident via the form below.

Addressing Grievances
If you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you should notify the organizer team with a concise description of your grievance. Submit grievances by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/dmMFK5p7QaXLzrFe9. Any grievances will be reviewed by a third party separate from Nordic Game Jam organizers.
Modification
Nordic Game Jam reserves the right to change, modify or make exceptions to all policies without prior notification. By participating in Nordic Game Jam–hosted and –organized events, using the Nordic Game Jam website, and participating in the Online platforms, you accept and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
